2009 Krupp Brothers Veraison Red Wine, Napa Valley

Complex nose displaying layers of ripe cassis, dark plum, toasted vanilla spice, bay leaf, floral notes and subtle earthy aromas. Excellent concentration of fleshy round tannin fill the palate along with flavors of ripe blackberry, chocolate covered cherry, clove, dark truffle and well-integrated caramelized oak. The persistent yet elegant finish is polished and round. Drink now through 2024.

Harvested: September 8–October 23, 2009
Blend: 35% Syrah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 12% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot
Fermentation: Average 4 day cold soak, 22 days on skins
Cooperage: Taransaud, Bossuet, Sylvain & Remond
Barrel Aging: 22 months–75% new French Oak
Release Date: July 1, 2014
Vineyard: Stagecoach: Blocks I4, T3, L1, M5, E2, D4, D6, KV1, E1 & A4
Soil: Hambright red/brown and rocky loam
Exposure: Mostly south and west

"The 2009 Veraison Red & Krupp Brothers emerges from the glass with freshly cut roses, flowers, spices and licorice. Silky tannins frame the fruit through to the finish in this supple, radiant red. Veraison is a blend of approximately 33% Syrah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 12% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024."—AG
