2009 Krupp Brothers Black Bart Syrah, Stagecoach Vineyard

Deep, dark and inky in color. Rich nose with umami characteristics of roasted meats and smoked bacon which mesh nicely with sweet floral components. Cocoa, coffee and vanilla bean are also present. Bright entry with flavors of blueberry and ripe plum which blossom into fresh raspberry as the wine opens up. The finish is long with subtle medium-grained tannins. This wine will benefit from decanting while young and will drink well now through 2021.

CONNOISSEURS' GUIDE TO CA WINES - 2009 Krupp Brothers Black Bart Syrah

“Regardless from which grape they may be made, wines from the Stagecoach Vineyard are rarely retiring, and this one delivers richness and very deep fruit to spare. It may be ripe beyond question, but it is absolutely brimming with berries, and it hits the mark smartly with regard to game and smoked meat and peppery spice. If it is very full-bodied with a bit of baby fat on entry, it firms up and finds a fair measure of grip as it goes, and we would let it sit for a few years before pouring it as a foil to juicy beef roasts."

WINE SPECTATOR - 2009 Krupp Brothers Black Bart Syrah

"Focused on a core of cherry and raspberry flavors, this is firm and spicy, supported by ripe, chewy tannins and accented by hints of graphite and crushed rock. Drink now through 2024. 446 cases made." —S.H.

WINE ADVOCATE - 2009 Krupp Brothers Black Bart Syrah

"The 2009 Syrah Black Bart Stagecoach Vineyard emerges from the glass with expressive dark red fruit, licorice and spices. This is a relatively muscular, powerful vintage for the Black Bart that emphasizes rich fruit over varietal aromatics. The 2009 shows good density and power through to the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."—AG
