2006 Krupp Brothers Merlot, Stagecoach Vineyard

Attractive aromas of dried herbs, sage and fennel, boysenberry, blueberries, black olives, creamed corn and cedar. The palate transitions to sweet currants, dark cherries and ripe plums. A beautifully crafted and focused Merlot, medium bodied and structural with a sweet fruit center and fine persistent tannins. A wonderfully supple, persistent wine.

Harvested: September 8, 2006
Blend: 98% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot
Fermentation: 4 day cold soak with 21 days on skins, indigenous yeast
Cooperage: French Oak–Taransaud, Bossuet & Sylvan
Barrel Aging: 16 months–75% new oak
Release Date: July 1, 2010

Soil: Insanely rocky, red soil
Exposure: Gentle south facing
