M5 is the name of the vineyard block from which all of the Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine is sourced. Beautiful deep purple hues and complex aromas of black fruits, toasted oak, currant, cocoa, vanilla and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied entry which leads to beautifully structured and layered mid-palate tannins. Flavor profile consists of blackberry, plum and allspice with hints of roasted coffee bean and earthy mineral notes. Drink now through 2024.
"A quintessential, cult-style Napa Cabernet, this has a soft creaminess that’s reminiscent of milk chocolate. The fruit is terrifically ripe in blackberry jam and cassis liqueur, with a strong but balanced application of sweet oak. Really complex, it’s a Cabernet that will stand against the best of Napa Valley." —S.H.
"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon M5 Stagecoach is a little bit richer and more opulent than the straight Cabernet. It boasts gorgeous inner perfume to match deep layers of expressive, rich fruit. The intensity carries through effortlessly to the long, resonant finish. This is the first bottling of the M5. It certainly looks like the Krupp brothers are off to a strong start here. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023."—AG
INTERNATIONAL WINE CELLAR - 2008 Krupp Brothers M5 Cabernet Sauvignon
"Full ruby-red. Tight nose hints at cassis, menthol and chocolate mint. Densely packed and sweet but much less open-knit--and more medicinal--than the "regular" Stagecoach Vineyard cabernet. Fine-grained and ripe but showing its oak component today. This brooding, seriously tannic wine calls for a minimum of five years of bottle aging."—ST
