Vibrant ruby in color with black tints. Pure aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, and white pepper. Concentrated and intense smoked bacon and graphite nuances add complexity to the wild dark berry and violet flavors

Harvested: October 12, 2006
Blend: 98% Syrah and 2% Viognier
Fermentation: 5 days cold soak, total of 19 days on skins in an open top fermenter
Cooperage: French Oak–Damy, Cadus & Francois Freres
Barrel Aging: 16 months–65% new oak
Release Date: February 1, 2009
Vineyard: Krupp Brothers and Stagecoach Block(s): KB5 & I4
Soil: Red/Brown loam over rock
Exposure: I4–steep south facing, KB5–north- northeast
Elevation: 1,550- 1,650 ft above sea level
