2006 Krupp Brothers "The Advocate," Stagecoach Vineyard
Aromas of sweet cherries, cranberry, licorice, and plum are intermingled with cinnamon and raspberry - vanilla compote. The palate is beautifully focused and polished; raspberries, violets, lavender, and cranberries give way to fine dusty tannins that frame the mouth perfectly.
WINE SPECTATOR - 2006 Krupp Brothers "The Advocate"
"A wine with grace and finesse, complex but sleekly structured, with aromas of black cherry and mocha oak and flavors of red currant, tomato leaf and dried brown spices. Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2016."—T.F.
WINE ENTHUSIAST 3/31/10 - Krupp Brothers The Advocate
CELLAR SELECTION
"This is Krupp’s best wine. Made of an unusual blend of Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, it’s a classically young Napa Bordeaux blend in need of time in the cellar. Shows tannic flavors of blackberries, currants and cola, with a bone-dry, spicy finish. Hold this rich, vital wine until 2012, and it should provide good drinking for at least six additional years, with good storage." - S.H.
CONNOISSEURS' GUIDE TO CA WINES Vol 34, Iss 5: 2006 Krupp Brothers The Advocate
"42% Merlot, 32% Malbec, 26% Petit Verdot. Deep, dense, long on keenly defined black-cherry fruit and fit with complexing highlights of sweet oak, woodsmoke and dried herbs, this ripe but very well-controlled wine tempers its richness with fine structure and and more restraint than is often the case in Krupp Brothers wines. It is all, Merlot in feel with a fleshy texture and fine-grained tannins firming its insistent finish, and should age famously for years."
