Named for the sophisticated gentleman bandit of the late 1800s who crisscrossed Northern California robbing stagecoaches (with a nod to winery co-proprietor Bart Krupp), Black Bart is the Krupp Brothers’ label for its wild but sophisticated wines based on Rhône varietals. Black Bart Syrah, Stagecoach Vineyard, fermented with a touch Viognier to add elegance and soft, floral aromas, has cut its own legendary path across the Northern California hills (and garnered attention across the globe)—much like its namesake.
The Black Bart portfolio also includes a Marsanne and a seductive blend of Marsanne, Viognier, and Chardonnay called Black Bart’s Bride, in honor of the outlaw’s young, mysterious lover. A Syrah Port is made in select years.
Polished, complex nose; aromas of orange pith, key lime pie, white peach, stone fruits, nut, spice, apricot Danish with clotted cream. The innate generosity of the palate is tightly wound around a spine of minerality, this wine will develop superbly, gaining richness without losing its varietal identity.
Berry licorice fruit, spice and marzipan aromatics immediately capture your attention. A beautifully rich pallet attributed to quality fruit, not high brix levels. The wine dances across the tongue with great acidity and vibrancy, the finish is long and concentrated. Release Date: December 1, 2009
Intense aromas of peach blossom, nectarines and honeysuckle explode from the glass. The palate is pristine and focused with wonderful weight and richness, the wine slips across the mouth with succulent texture, and the finish is long with persistent minerality.
Sweet aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, lavender, as well as bacon fat and graphite. Unctuous with mouth filling flavors of raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, vanilla, and smoky oak. The tannins transition seamlessly across the palate of this full bodied wine.
Focused, intense floral nose of honey suckle and orange blossom, almond kernels, honeycomb. Complex and rich palate, flavors of lemon pie, pie crust, and minerality lead to a succulent and creamy textural finish.
