Like the sophisticated gentleman bandit of the late 1800s who crisscrossed Northern California robbing stagecoaches, Black Bart serves as the Krupp Brothers' label for its wild-yet-sophisticated Rhone-varietal wines. Wines include two Syrahs, Marsanne, a whie blend called Black Bart's Bride, and in select years a Syrah Port.
Lifted nose, displaying wonderful complexity–honey suckle, jasmine tea, almond kernels, fennel, lemon and crushed stones. The palate is full and balanced, flavors of citrus, peach, apricots and a steely minerality.
Not for the faint-hearted, huge color, immense fl avor and good structure. All Syrah components were bled from our best Syrah ferments after 2-3 days on skins (la saignée). The saignée was sent directly to 2 year old Taransaud barrels and underwent natural fermentation. Deep ruby red, brilliant clarity; intense aromas of strawberries and cream, apricot blossom and panna cotta; loads of flavor on the palate, ripe raspberries and vanilla bean ice-cream, with a touch of spice hinting that it truly is Syrah.
Focused, intense floral nose of honey suckle and orange blossom, almond kernels, honeycomb. Complex and rich palate, flavors of lemon pie, pie crust, and minerality lead to a succulent and creamy textural finish.
